The function of gateway in computer network

Network Gateway connects two networks so that devices from one network can communicate with other network devices. Without a gateway, you cannot access the Internet, communicate, and send data. The gateway can be implemented entirely in software, hardware, or a combination of both. The network gateways by definition are the power of the network, often combining relevant features such as firewalls and proxy servers. The gateway computer network has a router.
